Agencies Set Dollar Threshold for Truth in Lending and Consumer Leasing for 2020 Transactions

On October 31, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Federal Reserve (FRS) announced the new dollar thresholds in Regulations Z and M to be used in 2020 for consumer credit and lease transactions. The new threshold is based on the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. In 2020, the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and Consumer Leasing Act (CLA) requirements will generally apply to consumer credit transactions and consumer leases of $58,300 or less. Joint Press Release.
