George L. Kanabe
George Kanabe is a USPTO-registered patent attorney and partner in Orrick’s Intellectual Property Group, based in the San Francisco office. Prior to graduating law school, he worked as a patent agent to procure patents on behalf of his clients. He now represents individuals and companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, and everything in between, on all aspects of IP law and disputes, with an emphasis on litigation, due diligence and licensing.
George graduated from Fordham Law School, where he wrote for the Urban Law Journal on various policy issues. He earned his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University in Electronical and Computer Engineering.
Monte Cooper is of counsel in Orrick’s Intellectual Property Group, and is based in the Silicon Valley office. In addition to offering more than 20 years of experience with patent, copyright, trade secret and antitrust litigation (including appellate work), Monte also provides IP counseling and licensing advice for both major technology and emerging companies alike. Monte is well known to the IP Bar, and frequently is asked to speak at and chair prestigious international conferences focused on IP issues, including the Sedona Conference, AIPLA, IPO, and the Naples Roundtable.
Monte graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law, where he was both Production Editor and Senior Staff editor for the Colorado Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Economics and History from Duke University
