On May 21, the FDIC approved a global settlement of the bankruptcy case involving Washington Mutual Inc., the holding company of Washington Mutual Bank, for which the FDIC was appointed receiver on September 25, 2008.  The settlement remains subject to the approval of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
